I started reading a book by Seth Godin today. It’s basically a compilation of several blog posts he’s written over time. After about fifteen minutes all I could think was – wow, why can’t I come up with this stuff? I started to wonder why I couldn’t think like Seth and come up with those amazing insights. I started to feel pretty insignificant and wondered if I would ever be where Seth is now.
In that moment a couple of things occurred to me. First, Seth was once where I am now. There was a time when he was starting; a time when no-one knew who he was; a time when his voice was heard by only a few. On top of that, I realized that I’m never going to think like him – if I did, no-one would care about what I have to say because there’s already someone saying it.
So, if you’re thinking of starting something new or just wanting to put yourself out there a bit more – give it a shot. I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the result.
To all you awesome people out there really participating in this thing we call life; much love – it’s a crazy ride; and so worth it!
